The Millen House proudly presents JUPITER4, a curated group show at Collectible fair 2024 where iconic Dutch designs of the late 20th century converge with the avant-garde creations of emerging talents. Through the lens of a dystopian narrative, our collection unfolds tales on the border of past and future, art and design
The Millen House is pleased to present our first participation at Collectible fair, bringing our signature aesthetic and energy to the fair. Iconic pieces of Dutch design from late 20th century and early 2000s find themselves in conversation with works by young talents, creating a dynamic dialogue that transcends time. Together these pieces bridge the gap between art and design, tradition and innovation, inviting visitors to explore the intersections of human nature, technology, and craft.
Our exhibit showcases a collection of unconventional furniture, lighting, ceramics and art with a dystopian undertone. Out-of-this-world shapes collide with earthy materials like bronze glazing, burnt wood, metal mesh juxtaposed with futuristic materials like carbon fibre and plexiglass. Within the curated space of our exhibit, pieces resonate with echos of architecture, 1980s geometry and technology, creating an atmosphere that straddles both the familiar and the speculative.
Jupiter 4, a poly synthesizer championed by artists like Duran Duran and Michael Jackson, started a new wave of musical experimentation in the late 1970s up to the early 1980s. The groupshow channels this early post-modern experimentation while at the same time connecting to extraterrestrial worlds.
