Abstract wooden sculpture by NOUT VISSER, 1970s

1,750.00

An amorphous and sensual sculpture by Dutch artist Nout Visser (1944-2018), signed and dated underneath, 1974. Strong sculptural shape with a voluptuous curve. The wood has a stunning patina with natural cracks and fissures. Typical of the artists oeuvre, this piece will make a unique and striking addition to any interior.

Visser studied painting and drawing at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He created monumental art on commission and worked with materials like granite, steel, brick and wood. In 1973 he founded the ‘Werkgroep Speelbouw’ with Martin Sjardijn. From 1974 he was a supervisor at the Free Academy in The Hague and from the 1990’s he taught sculpture at the Koorenhuis arts center in The Hague. Key to his work is the interaction between environment and art; he found his inspiration in nature and culture. Visser’s work can be found in the public spaces of many cities in the Netherlands. This piece comes from a private collection in the Netherlands.
