Rare silver Goto vase in resin. Gaetano Pesce, realized this vase for ‘Caffè Florian’ during a temporary exhibition during the Venice Biennale of 1995. Part of the decoration is an Italian text, translated in English: “A toast to Venice, so that she becomes a locus of modern lives, modern behaviour, progress, services, joys, optimism, discoveries, trust in the future, courage, openness to the culture of the contemporary world… and not a place of prejudice, protection, conservatism, immobility, soporific location, museum-cult of the past, reactionary example, hopeless venue for future generations, full of torpor, provincialism, mute and nostalgic enterprises… Let’s get rid of this masque, which claims Venice a space to live in”

On the bottom the vase is signed: “Florian Temporanea”. Each Vase / Goto is different from the other and is a unique piece as a result of the production process with resin in a mold. The size is 16 cm high, 11,3 cm wide and the depth is 10 cm The weight is 162 gram.

Gaetano Pesce, born on November 8, 1939, in La Spezia, Italy, stands as an icon in the world of design, celebrated for his innovative and unconventional approach. His career, marked by pushing design boundaries, showcases a fusion of bold materials, vibrant colors, and avant-garde forms. Pesce has experimented with resin, polyurethane foam, and various polymers. This exploration has led to the creation of unique and unconventional pieces, ranging from furniture and lighting to architectural structures, including the Organic Building in Osaka, Japan. Among his most iconic works is the “Up” series, featuring the famous “Up5” and “Up6” armchairs. Designed in 1969, these chairs with their large, rounded forms and vibrant, patchwork-like fabric. Working with prominent design companies and manufacturers, he has contributed to the creation of innovative designs that defy convention. Beyond product design, Pesce has left a mark on architecture. Gaetano Pesce’s work has earned international acclaim and his designs are part of major museum collections worldwide. Numerous awards underscore his innovative contributions, establishing him as a pioneer in contemporary design.
