Description
Born in The Hague, Dutch artist Ton Pape was a painter of exceptional orginality. His works shifts between figurative and abstract, not only created he paintings figures or landscapes, but also work in a geometric abstract style. He studied at the Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague, and later frequently showed his at Pulchri Studio in both member and solo shows. In the mid-1960’s Pape gained a reputation as designer of patterns for carpets and fabrics. Especially this interest in layering and weaving is a also visible in this artwork.
