A small colourful sulpture by Dutch artist Govert Heikoop (1951-2007). An intriguing play of shape, colour and reflection, signed and dated underneath. The two curved shapes reflect the colors on each other, creating an interesting 3d sculpture.
Govert Heikoop (1951-2007), was born in Meerkerk, NL, and studied at Jan van Eyck Academy, Maastricht, in 1977. He obtained his MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA 1979. This school has some famous design allumni like, Harry Bertoia, Charles & Ray Eames and Florence Knoll. At Cranbrook he developed from a painter into a sculptor and starting doing indoor and outdoor assignments. A huge influence on his work Daniel Libeskind, who was his professor at Cranbrook. His large and small scale wooden sculptures have an strong appereance with architectural shapes, curves and bold colours.
