Govert Heikoop, Orange & pink sculpture


A small colourful sculpture by Dutch artists Govert Heikoop (1951-2007). Strong organic shape with bold colours, very typical of the 1980’s but still fresh looking. This sculpure is titled ” Ghei 3″, signed and dated underneath.

GOVERT HEIKOOP (1951-2007), was born in Meerkerk, NL, and studied at  Jan van Eyck Academy, Maastricht, in 1977. He obtained his MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA 1979. This  school has some famous design allumni like, Harry Bertoia, Charles & Ray Eames and Florence Knoll. At Cranbrook he developed from a painter into a sculptor and starting doing indoor and outdoor assignments. Especially his large and small scale wooden sculptures have an architectural appereance with shapes, curves and bold colours.
