JW Maronier, “This is how they Dance over there II” Large abstract painting, 1965

Large and powerful piece by Dutch artist Jan Willem Maronier (1929-2000). A piece from his early career, painted in thick layers of paint in strong colors. The painting consists of spontaneously ‘written’ smears, lines, circles, splashes and stains, in a thick paint mass with impetuously brushed areas of color. Although abstract in composition, upon a closer look one can see hints or architecture and people.
This is how they dance over there II”, 1965, signed and dated on the front and verso.
