In 1958 Dutch architect & designer Wim den Boon was asked to design a private interior in Wassenaar. In collaboration with the clients he created a few simple but unique pieces. Together with the client’s wife, a ceramist, he designed these cabinets amongst others.
Den Boon studied at the Academy for Visual Arts in The Hague in 1941. In 1945 he founded 'Groep & together with Hein Stolle and Pierre Kleykam', a group that manifested itself after the war with interiors and design such as the furniture of the international departure hall of Schiphol in 1948. Group & also designed a dining room chair for the magazine 'Goed Wonen'. Boon was a dogmatic man who believed strongly in the transforming capacities of architecture and design. His interiors are focused on the power of the space itself and often include a few large objects to emphasize that space .
Den Boon was the editorial secretary of Goed Wonen from 1948-1950. In his designs Den Boon was greatly influenced by the architecture of Le Corbusier, De Stijl and Rietveld.
