MVS CHL95 by Maarten Van Severen is a minimalist lounge chair that embodies the designer’s dedication to simplicity, functionality, and precision. Crafted in white polyester with an aluminum frame, its fluid form and clean lines reflect Van Severen’s pursuit of perfection in design. Originally, only two editions were created, with one acquired by the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the other by MoMA in New York. This 2013 reissue by Lensvelt preserves the original design’s integrity while utilizing modern production techniques. Only three reissue chairs were produced for its launch in Amsterdam and exhibitions like the Salone del Mobile in Milan, making it exceptionally rare. Van Severen (1956–2005), one of Belgium’s most influential contemporary designers, is celebrated for his thoughtful balance of functionality and elegance. MVS CHL95 remains a timeless and iconic example of his groundbreaking work.
