Fulvio Bianconi Venini glass lamps — rare circa-1950 “Con fiamma” obelisk pair in clear glass with white inclusions, handmade and each signed “Venini Italia” underneath, with original shades.

This refined pair of obelisk-shaped glass lamps comes from Fulvio Bianconi’s distinguished Con fiamma series for Venini, a sculptural exploration of verticality and internal movement. Each piece is individually hand-blown, featuring clear Murano glass infused with rising white “flame” inclusions, giving the works their characteristic sense of upward energy. Both bases are signed “Venini Italia,” confirming their authenticity. The lamps retain their original fabric shades, contributing to their warm, mid-century presence. Originally created as glass obelisks, this pair underwent an early, period-appropriate conversion into table lamps—a known custom practice for Venini collectors. They use standard E27 bulbs and are fitted with European wiring (rewiring available on request).

Condition is excellent, with clean glass surfaces, crisp inclusions, and lightly patinated original shades.

About the Artist

Fulvio Bianconi (1915–1996) was one of Murano’s most innovative postwar designers. Working with Venini from the late 1940s onward, he introduced a freer, more expressive approach to glass, creating iconic series such as Fazzoletto, Pezzato, and Figure della Commedia. His works are held in major collections including the Murano Glass Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the MoMA, New York.
